Occupational Therapy for Older People
This book focuses on evidence-based occupational therapy in the care of older adults in different clinical settings, from home to acute hospital, from intensive care unit to rehabilitation centers and nursing homes. Occupational therapy has progressively developed as a new discipline aiming to improve the daily life of individuals of different ages, from children to older adults. The Saint Lawrence County, New York Branch of the American Association of University Women presents a biographical sketch of the music teacher Maud DeGan Graff, who promoted music in rural areas of New York during the mid-1920s. She placed music teachers in schools where music had never been taught before. The teachers started choirs, orchestras, and community choruses. The sketch is excerpted from "Women of Courage: Ten North Country Pioneers in Profile," a book that was published in 1989 by the Saint Lawrence County, New York Branch of the American Association of University Women.

Abstract: Objective To determine the effect of occupational therapy provided at home on activities of daily living, behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) and quality of life (QOL) for people with dementia, and the effect on family carer burden, depression and QOL.
