Educational Bilingualism
This volume focuses on the recent trend in English language pedagogy of “educational bilingualism”, that is, teaching English language, contents and cultures in bilingual lessons. It draws on the critical revision of the monolingual tradition of language instruction rooted in the outdated direct method once powerful at the turn of the 20th century. The realities of education are that the English language is spreading to foreign lands, circulating alongside native tongues, functioning as a universal communication tool for multinational groups or individuals and emerging as a global language in education. This book proves the hypothesis that in the epoch of information breakthroughs and global migration, the value of English in education lies in it being the key to innovative knowledge. This leads to its integration with the learners’ own language, providing alternative sources of information and marking cultural self-identity.
Contrastive Phraseology
This volume is addressed to researchers in the field of phraseology, and to teachers, translators and lexicographers. It is a collection of essays offering a comprehensive, modern analysis of phrasemes, embracing a wide range of subjects and themes, from linguistic, both applied and theoretical, to cultural aspects. The contrastive approach underlying this variety of themes allows the divergences and analogies between phraseological units in two or more languages to be outlined. The languages compared here are both major and minor, European and non-European, and the text includes contrastive analyses of the most commonly investigated languages (French-German, English-Spanish, Russian-German), as well as some less frequently investigated languages (like Ukrainian, Romanian, Georgian and Thai), which are not as well-represented in phraseological description, despite their scientific interest.

Frazeološka simfonija
Frazeologija raziskuje možnosti in uresničevanje večbesedne izrazne čustvenosti v jeziku, prek katere se med drugim razkrivajo tudi prvine narodnega značaja, ki se iz generacije v generacijo skladiščijo v našem mentalnem spominu. Frazeologija kot veda je na Slovenskem zaživela v 80. letih in od takrat dalje zaradi svoje izjemnosti in večplastnosti privablja mnoge raziskovalce. V tej prvi večavtorski monografiji o frazeologiji predstavljamo 22 sodobnih pogledov na frazeologijo pri nas in v evropskem prostoru. Tematsko smo jo uredili v štiri sklope. V njih podajamo pregled razvoja slovenske frazeologije in njenih prvih slovarskih poskusov, razkrivamo skrivnosti frazeološkega pomena, problematiziramo frazeološko zgradbo v najširšem smislu in iščemo poti do frazeologije drugih jezikov in narodov. Delo je namenjeno jezikoslovcem, ki intenzivno preučujejo frazeologijo, in tudi tistim, ki bi se s frazeološkimi vprašanji želeli ukvarjati več, študentom, ki hrepenijo po pregledno urejeni sodobni frazeološki literaturi, in ne nazadnje vsem ljubiteljem anomalnih jezikovnih enot.
