Images of Women in Hispanic Culture
This book studies the ways traditional polarized images of women have been used and challenged in the Hispanic world, especially during the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century by writers and the media, but also in earlier time periods. The chapters analyze the image of women in specific political periods such as Francoism or the Kirchners’ administration, stereotypes of women in films in Mexico and Chile, and the representation of women in textbooks, among other topics. Contributions also show how two women writers, in the 17th and the 19th centuries, viewed the role of women in their society.

From Silver Screen to Spanish Stage
This is the first book-length English-language study of a group of five artists closely linked with the Spanish avant-garde in the 1920s and 1930s, now known as the 'Other' Generation of 27. In the same way that their contemporaries of the celebrated Generation of 27 (which included Federico Garcia Lorca) attempted a revolution of the arts through poetry inspired by European modernism, the 'Other' Generation of 27 attempted to renovate Spanish humour, first in prose, and then in the theatre and cinema. This book demonstrates how these humorists drew on the humour of Chaplin, Keaton, Lubitsch and the Marx Brothers for their stage comedy, and how they stretched the limits of the stage at the time by incorporating cinematic techniques, such as flashback, voice-overs and montage, in their search for new dramatic forms.

The artist Dierk Schmidt (Unna, 1965) makes use of the aesthetic and the visual to disrupt positivist and liner concepts of history with respect to the omissions and violence in colonial narratives -- one of the core themes running through his work, along with a need for the restitution of plundered objects and the related international law -- the manipulation of museum discourses and the contrived and dramatic state of televised politics. 0The retrospective held by the Museo Reina Sofía assembles some of Schmidt?s most ambitious projects as 'The Division of the Earth' or 'Broken Windows' and concludes with a site-specific project related to the role of the Palacio de Velázquez -- where the show is displayed -- directly after it was built in 1883 and in view of its housing, in 1887, part of the monographic exhibition of the Philippines, Mariana and Caroline Islands, before becoming the 'Biblioteca y Museo de Ultramar' (the Museum-Library of the Overseas).00Exhibition: Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid, Spain (09.10.2018-10.03.2019).
I die every day
To bring into this project, Tobias Rehberger selected a shocking title extracted from one of the quote by St. Paul to the Corinthians, and more specifically from the paragraph about the Resurrection of the Dead. The question is crucial since the project relates to the idea of the Resurrection within the artist's work and trajectory. For the staging of the installation, seventeen projects were selected out of over forty of which the artist counted on. Over his sketches, drawings and short annotations, Rehberger tried to redo and give life to them, applying the other forms, materials and sizes. For this exhibition a catalog was designed by Chris Rehberger with a wide selection of the previous projects in a graphical, critical and historiographical scale. The catalog includes a text by Chus Martinez and a detailed analysis on the new project by the exhibition's commissioner, Agustn Prez Rubio as well as an elaborated review about the hidden story of each one of the seventeen projects, written by Doris Mampe.
