Actualmente, algunos sectores de la educación médica han determinado que hay una crisis en la enseñanza y aprendizaje de Anatomía, dado que profesores y estudiantes consideran no tener conocimientos adecuados para desempeñarse de manera óptima en su práctica diaria. Sin embargo, el contexto actual no permite aumentar el tiempo dedicado a esta materia y la preservación de especímenes para educación es segregada cada vez más por herramientas modernas como software y modelos sintéticos.
