I took the first six chapters of Genesis as the inspiration for this novel. It is a dramatization of events to fill in over 900 years of events concerning Adam, Eve and the original sin which was glossed over in the Bible. This dramatization also makes an attempt to explain what could have happened to Eden after the fall of man. No attempt was made to change the Bible's history as it is written or to change any premise.

Here and Not There

Chaya Margolis is a sensitive and creative girl. She says the right thing, does the right things for everyone else. She lives for the stories that she is always writing because the world she creates shelters her from all the pain and disappointment she experienced as a child. Chaya has a secret. She seems to not only be at ease in her story world, but in the world of the dead. Suddenly, along came these dead spirits who put her on trial for not walking among the living. What verdict will they bring forth? Will Chaya survive having them excavate what she has tried so hard to keep buried? Or will the dead teach her how to live?

Childhood and Nature

Childhood and Nature is a guide for educators looking to foster in their students a love of nature as well as an understanding of complex environmental issues. This second edition brings new material and fresh insights to David Sobel's foundational exploration of place-based education. Sobel articulates seven design principles that teachers can use to build learning experiences: adventure, fantasy and imagination, animal allies, maps and paths, special places, small worlds, and hunting and gathering,. Pulling from recurrent play themes and real-world examples from educators, Sobel details placed-based projects and lessons for each principle. Students learn and develop vital skills through engagement with their local environments and communities. Miniature ecosystems in the "small world" of a sandbox, for example, can help children grasp larger, abstract ideas. A timely and actionable resource, Childhood and Nature shows how centering the world around us in education can create a generation of nature students, explorers, and protectors.

The term Old Settlers refers to the group of mixed race people that came to MI in the late 1800's and settled in the newly opened land in the Mecosta, Isabella and Montcalm counties. The title is well known through out the area and most know it refers to that group and anyone who descended from them. Volume two covers the original Old Settlers that came whose last names begin with D-R and follows each one of their descendants through every generation down to the current living generations. It includes photographs, family stories, articles and obituaries. They were an amazing group who settled the land, cleared it, farmed it, built homes, schools, churches, roads, married each other and raised families. There are many historical sites and monuments still there that are overseen by their descendants. Our history is kept alive by thousands of descendants and hundreds who work on genealogy and share their knowledge.
