The first exhibition catalogue of the Pinacoteca de São Paulo was published in 1912, establishing a tradition in publications devoted to the institution's collections. This exhibition, which celebrates 100 years of graphic and editorial production of the Pinacoteca, features posters, invitations, brochures, catalogues and books, as well as original documents never before displayed in public.

A selection of paintings and drawings by Brazilian artists, including masters like Anita Malfatti and Candido Portinari from the holdings of the Pinacoteca of Sao Paulo. Curator Ana Paula Nascimento highlights the academic importance of nude painting in the artistic formation of different painting schools. "The idea of a project of the long-term exhibition of works from the Museum's collection entitled "Art no Brasil: uma historia na Pinacoteca de Sao Paulo" (Art in Brazil: a story of the Art Pinacoteca of Sao Paulo) involves using the four rooms in the corner of the second floor of the building on Avenida Tridentes for temporary shows that will be regularly renewed (...) The implementation of this project in October 2011 thus launched a series of temporary exhibitions, starting with The Nude Outside the Academies"--P. 50.
