Developing Modern Livestock Production in Tropical Countries
The Animal Production International Seminar (APIS) is the first international conference held by the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya. APIS was held for the first time in 2010 and was repeated every three years. In 2022, the 5th APIS was organized as an online meeting. The Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya, is optimistic that the results of the 5th APIS will just be as successful as the 4th APIS in 2019. The theme of 5th APIS was "Developing Modern Livestock Production in Tropical Countries". The 5th APIS discussed matters related to strategies for developing modern livestock production in several tropical countries. The participants of 5th APIS, including keynote speakers and invited speakers, are from various countries (tropical and sub-tropical). These proceedings present the selected papers from the 5th APIS conference. Buku ini disusun khusus diperuntukkan bagi mahasiswa sebagai salah satu bahan bacaan dalam mata kuliah “Khamir: Aktifitas dan Manfaat sebagai Bahan Pakan Unggas Saccharomyces Cerevisiae” Buku ini membahas masalah segala aspek tentang kultur khamir baik dari sisi pembuatan, nutrisi dan aplikasi dalam pakan ayam. Kultur khamir adalah suatu produk hasil fermentasi dari mikroorganisme khamir (yeast) pada suatu media pengemban (substrat) tertentu berbentuk tepung kering. Selain itu kultur khamir mempunyai bentuk dan bau yang khas, daya cerna yang tinggi serta palatable. Buku ini berawal dengan pembahasan perkembangan populasi, industri pakan ternak, konsumsi daging dan telur, serta serapan tenaga kerja pada usaha ternak unggas, lalu sistem pencernaan, zat-zat makanan yang diperlukan, faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kebutuhan nutrisi hingga membahas tentang kebutuhan nutrisi untuk ternak ayam pedaging dan petelur, itik, puyuh dan kalkun. Sustainable Animal Agriculture
In order to meet increasing global demand for meat and animal by-products increasingly intensive animal production is necessary. Creating a sustainable system in animal agriculture that works in different production environments is a major challenge for animal scientists. This book draws together themes on sustainability that have emerged as the most pressing in recent years. Addressing practical topics such as air quality, manure management, animal feeds, production efficiency, environmental sustainability, biotechnology issues, animal welfare concerns, societal impacts and an analysis of the data used to assess the economic sustainability of farms.

To present a coherent and meaningful survey of scientific research endeavour in an area that has expanded as fast as physiology and biochemistry of reproduction in the male is no mean task these days. No less prodigious than the growth of knowledge of male reproductive function has been the rate at which the outpouring of publications on this subject has continued since the appearance of 'The Biochemistry of Semen and of the Male Reproductive Tract' in 1964. Since cyclopaedic treatment of this vast literature did not appeal to us, we have made no attempt either to rehash the material contained in that book or to enlarge the bibliography beyond the nearly 3500 references included in the present treatise. At the same time, whilst writing, we felt strongly that to advance, it is necessary to understand the past, and for this reason we have not hesitated to refer (especially in the introductory chapter) to a number of those fundamental early discoveries in which today's knowledge is deeply and firmly rooted.
Poultry Nutrition
The aim of this Special Issue is to publish high quality papers concerning poultry nutrition and the interrelations between nutrition, metabolism, microbiota and the health of poultry. Therefore, I invite submissions of recent findings, as original research or reviews, on poultry nutrition, including, but not limited to, the following areas: the effect of feeding on poultry meat end egg quality; nutrient requirements of poultry; the use of functional feed additives to improve gut health and immune status; microbiota; nutraceuticals; soybean meal replacers as alternative sources of protein for poultry; the effects of feeding poultry on environmental impacts; the use of feed/food by-products in poultry diet; and feed technology.
