The Animal Production International Seminar (APIS) is the first international conference held by the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya. APIS was held for the first time in 2010 and was repeated every three years. In 2022, the 5th APIS was organized as an online meeting. The Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya, is optimistic that the results of the 5th APIS will just be as successful as the 4th APIS in 2019. The theme of 5th APIS was "Developing Modern Livestock Production in Tropical Countries". The 5th APIS discussed matters related to strategies for developing modern livestock production in several tropical countries. The participants of 5th APIS, including keynote speakers and invited speakers, are from various countries (tropical and sub-tropical). These proceedings present the selected papers from the 5th APIS conference. Protein Sel Tunggal Saccharomyces Cerevisiae

Sun Circles and Human Hands

  • Categories: Art

From utilitarian arrowheads to beautiful stone effigy pipes to ornately-carved shell disks, the photographs and drawings in Sun Circles and Human Hands present the archaeological record of the art and native crafts of the prehistoric southeastern Indians, painstakingly compiled in the 1950s by two sisters who traveled the eastern United States interviewing archaeologists and collectors and visiting the major repositories. Although research over the last 50 years has disproven many of the early theories reported in the text—which were not the editors' theories but those of the archaeologists of the day—the excellent illustrations of objects no longer available for examination have more than validated the lasting worth of this popular book.

In order to meet increasing global demand for meat and animal by-products increasingly intensive animal production is necessary. Creating a sustainable system in animal agriculture that works in different production environments is a major challenge for animal scientists. This book draws together themes on sustainability that have emerged as the most pressing in recent years. Addressing practical topics such as air quality, manure management, animal feeds, production efficiency, environmental sustainability, biotechnology issues, animal welfare concerns, societal impacts and an analysis of the data used to assess the economic sustainability of farms.

Pharmacokinetic Optimization in Drug Research

Pharmacokinetic Optimization in Drug Research

The optimization of pharmacokinetic properties has become the bottleneck and a major challenge in drug research. There was, hence, an urgent need for a book covering this field in an authoritative, comprehensive, factual, and conceptual manner. In this work of unique breadth and depth, international authorities and practicing experts from academia and industry present the most modern biological, physicochemical, and computational strategies to achieve optimal pharmacokinetic properties in research series. These properties include gastrointestinal absorption, protein binding, brain permeation, and metabolic profile. Toxicological issues are, of course, also of utmost importance. In addition to its 33 chapters, the book includes a CD-ROM containing the invited lectures, oral communications and posters (in full version) presented at the Second LogP Symposium, 'Lipophilicity in Drug Disposition -- Practical and Computational Approaches to Molecular Properties Related to Drug Permeation, Disposition and Metabolism', held at the University of Lausanne in March 2000.n̓.

Male Reproductive Function and Semen

To present a coherent and meaningful survey of scientific research endeavour in an area that has expanded as fast as physiology and biochemistry of reproduction in the male is no mean task these days. No less prodigious than the growth of knowledge of male reproductive function has been the rate at which the outpouring of publications on this subject has continued since the appearance of 'The Biochemistry of Semen and of the Male Reproductive Tract' in 1964. Since cyclopaedic treatment of this vast literature did not appeal to us, we have made no attempt either to rehash the material contained in that book or to enlarge the bibliography beyond the nearly 3500 references included in the present treatise. At the same time, whilst writing, we felt strongly that to advance, it is necessary to understand the past, and for this reason we have not hesitated to refer (especially in the introductory chapter) to a number of those fundamental early discoveries in which today's knowledge is deeply and firmly rooted.
