This book explores responses to authoritarianism in Turkish society through popular culture by examining feature films and television serials produced between 1980 and 2010 about the 1980 coup. Envisioned as an interdisciplinary study in cultural studies rather than a disciplinary work on cinema, the book advocates for an understanding of popular culture in discerning emerging narratives of nationhood. Through feature films and television serials directly dealing with the coup of 1980, the book exposes tropes and discursive continuities such as “childhood” and “the child”. It argues that these conventional tropes enable popular debates on the modern nation’s history and its myths of identity.

Since the 1990s, filmmakers in Turkey have increasingly explored notions of gender, genre, cultural memory, and national and transnational identity. Taking these themes as its starting point, this book the first English-language directory of Turkish films provides an extensive historical overview the country s cinema since the early 1920s.In chapters organized by genre such as fantasy and science fiction, contemporary blockbusters, women s films, Istanbul films, and transnational or accented cinema leading scholars of Turkish cinema offer reflections on the country s most important film movements and filmmakers. In the process, they illuminate the industrial, cultural, and political contexts in which the films they address were produced, exhibited, and circulated. The resulting volume, which includes a comprehensive filmography and recommendations for those interested in further exploration, will be an indispensible reference for scholars and students of Turkish cinema."

DOĞAL VE BEŞERİ BİLİMLER AÇISINDAN IĞDIR – I
At the end of the 20th century, the traditional forms of tourism transformed; they expanded by the introduction of new postmodern tourist forms, bringing innovative offers to the marketplace. Two of these new fast-growing forms are literary tourism and film-induced tourism, both of which fall under the umbrella of cultural tourism. Both niches of cultural tourism share the need to create products and experiences that meet the tourists’ expectations. Global Perspectives on Literary Tourism and Film-Induced Tourism discusses literary tourism and film-induced tourism and documents the advances in research on the intersections of literature, film, and the act of traveling. Covering a wide range of topics from film tourism destinations to digital literary tourism, this book is ideal for travel agents, tourism agencies, tour operators, government officials, postgraduate students, researchers, academicians, cultural development councils and associations, and policymakers.
