The United States and Military Coups in Turkey and Pakistan
This comparative study explores the involvement of the United States in four successful military coups in Turkey and Pakistan during the Cold War. Focusing on military-to-military relations with the US in each country, the book offers insight into how external actors can impact the outcomes of coups, particularly through socialization via military training, education, and international organizations such as NATO. Drawing upon recently declassified government documents and a trove of unexplored interviews with high-ranking officials, Ömer Aslan also examines how coup plotters in both countries approached the issue of US reaction before, during, and after their coups. MODERN FARS ŞİİRİNİN BABASI NÎMÂ YÛŞÎC (1897-1959)
Nîmâ Yûşîc (1897-1959) Asıl adı Ali İsfendiyar'dır. Nîmâ ise lakabıdır. Nîmâ, Mazenderan eyaletindeki Nur şehrinin Yûş köyünde doğdu. Saint Louis lisesinde okudu ve Fransız edebiyatıyla tanıştı. Önce klasik aruz kalıplarında değişikliğe gitti, daha sonra özgür ölçüye geçti. İlk şiirini 23 yaşında yazdı. Bununla gelenekselcilerden büyük tepki aldı. Ancak zamanla takipçileri arttı. Şiirleri klasik şiir ile modern şiirin arasında bir köprü görevini üstlendi. Kaknûs şiiriyle klasik tarzı tamamen bıraktığını gösterdi. Şiirlerinde tabiattaki sembolleri oldukça başarılı tasvirlerle kullandı. Şiiri, sosyal hayatın sorunlarını ele almak için bir vasıta olarak gördü. Efsâne, Ey âdemhâ, Kaknûs ve Morğ-ı Âmîn en başarılı ve tanınmış şiirleridir. Efsane şiiriyle pek çok kişiden beğeni aldı ve kendisine "Efsane şairi" lakabı verildi. Şiirleriyle değişime kapalı bin yıllık Fars şiirinin esaslarını değiştirebildi. Modern Fars şiirinin kurucusu olduğu için Modern Fars Şiirinin babası olarak isimlendirildi.
