Los trabajos reunidos en este libro convocan a una reflexión sobre lo que implica investigar en las llamadas Ciencias de la Comunicación. Para ello, se presenta un diagnóstico comparativo del desarrollo de los estudios de la comunicación en México y Francia. Y, en el mismo tenor, se describe y cuestiona la forma en que ha sido estudiada la televisión y los desafíos de la formación profesional en el campo de la comunicación y el periodismo en el contexto laboral actual, signado por una profunda transformación del ecosistema comunicacional. Este ejercicio de reflexión comparativa, llevado a cabo por investigadores franceses y mexicanos, constituye una herramienta para la revisión tanto de la formación en comunicación como del hacer de la investigación en la actualidad.

Book of Abstracts. Workshop on Simulation and Optimization for Sustainable Engineering
The Workshop on Simulation and Optimization for Sustainable Engineering is held in Santander (September 28th-29th) on the occasion of the visit of Prof. Ignacio Grossmann to the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering of the Universidad de Cantabria in the framework of the Fulbright U.S. Specialist Program. This workshop is organized in collaboration with AQUIQÁN, the Association of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Cantabria, with the aims of serving both as a forum of discussion of the recent advances in the topic and a meeting point of the closest collaborators of Prof. Grossmann in Spain over the last years. Overall, 30 researchers will take part in this event coming from several universities (Alicante, Cantabria, Rovira i Virgili, Salamanca, Sevilla, and Valladolid) and the IMDEA Materials Institute. The program includes a plenary lecture imparted by Prof. Grossmann, one keynote presentation representative of each institution and around 15 oral presentations from young researchers.

Latin American Vanguards
In this first comprehensive study of Latin America's literary vanguards of the 1920s and 1930s, Vicky Unruh explores the movement's provocative and polemic nature. Latin American vanguardism—a precursor to the widely acclaimed work of contemporary Latin American writers—was stimulated by the European avant-garde movements of the World War I era. But as Unruh's wide-ranging study attests, the vanguards of Latin America—emerging from the continent's own historical circumstances—developed a very distinct character and voice. Through manifestos, experimental texts, and ribald public performance, the vanguardists' work intertwined art, culture, and the politics of the day to produce a powerful brand of aesthetic activism, one that sparked an entire rethinking of the meaning of art and culture throughout Latin America.
