Multidimensional Journal Evaluation
Scientific communication depends primarily on publishing in journals. The most important indicator to determine the influence of a journal is the Impact Factor. Since this factor only measures the average number of citations per article in a certain time window, it can be argued that it does not reflect the actual value of a periodical. This book defines five dimensions, which build a framework for a multidimensional method of journal evaluation. The author is winner of the Eugene Garfield Doctoral Dissertation Scholarship 2011.

Living In The Past
Living in the Past includes studies in Archaism of the Egyptian Twenty-sixth Dynasty and was first published in 1994. This study focuses on the Egyptian archaizing spirit which reached its climax under the Saite Twenty-sixth Dynasty (664-525 B.C.), resurrecting elements from earlier stages of Egyptian civilization. The primary focus of the investigation is the archaizing language (Neo-Mittelãgyptisch) of the Saite Egyptians, for both royal and private texts of Dynasty 26 display language which aspires to pass as Classical Egyptian.

Coptic Etymological Dictionary
Coptic was the language spoken in Egypt from late ancient times to the seventeenth century, when it was overtaken by Arabic as the national language. Derived from ancient Egyptian, the language of the hieroglyphs, it was written in an adapted form of Greek script. This dictionary lists about 2,000 Coptic words whose etymology has been established from ancient Egyptian and Greek sources, covering two-thirds of the known Coptic vocabulary and complementing W. E. Crum's 1939 Coptic Dictionary, still the standard in the field. The Egyptian forms are quoted in hieroglyphic and/or demotic forms. An appendix lists the etymologies of Coptic place-names. The final work of Czech Egyptologist Jaroslav Černý (1898-1970), Professor of Egyptology at Oxford, the Dictionary was brought through to publication by colleagues after his death.
Studies in Egyptian Syntax
Battiscombe Gunn's Studies in Egyptian Syntax (1924) is one of the fundamental works in Egyptian linguistics. the book, which has long been unobtainable, was published when the author was working for Alan H. Gardiner, who was preparing his renowned Egyptian Grammar (1st Edition 1927, 3rd edn 1957). Gardiner perceived the significance of Gunn's work with its major discoveries, and he incorporated a number of Gunn's ideas in his own grammar. Gunn, however, was a perfectionist who was reluctant to release his ideas for publication, and the Studies did not include all the chapters he ahd written.
