This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the 13th International Joint Conference on Software Technologies, ICSOFT 2018, held in Porto, Portugal, in July 2018. The 18 revised full papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 117 submissions. The topics covered in the papers include: business process modelling, IT service management, interoperability and service-oriented architecture, project management software, scheduling and estimating, software metrics, requirements elicitation and specification, software and systems integration, etc.
This book addresses an under-researched area within populism studies: the discourse of supporters of populist parties. Taking the 2019 European elections as their case study, the authors analyse how supporters in eleven different countries construct identities and voting motivations on social media. The individual chapters comprise a range of methods to investigate data from different social media platforms, defining populism as a political strategy and/or practice, realised in discourse, that is based on a dichotomy between “the people”, who are unified by their will, and an out-group whose actions are not in the interest of the people, with a leader safeguarding the interests of the people against the out-group. The book identifies what motivates people to vote for populist parties, what role national identities and values play in those motivations, and how the social media postings of populist parties are recontextualised in supporters’ comments to serve as a voting motivation.
This volume aims to merge theoretical models with methodological approaches on ceramic technology and artisanal networks in the Classical world. This convergence of analytical frameworks allowed scholars to explore some traditional archaeological topics that usually have a very low-level of visibility, such as the skillful gestures of the craftspeople involved, the organization of the ceramic production, the dynamics of apprenticeship and knowledge transfer as well as intra and inter-regional artisanal mobility, in the Graeco-Roman ‘communities of practice’. The papers promote interdisciplinary dialogues among various fields of study, such as archaeology, archaeometry, anthropology, ethnoarchaeology, experimental archaeology, and digital humanities - such as Social Network Analysis, computational imaging, and big data analysis.

Pindar's victory songs teem with divinity. By exploring them within the lived religious landscapes of the fifth century BCE, Hanne Eisenfeld demonstrates that they are in fact engaged in theological work. Focusing on a set of mythical figures whose identities blur the boundaries between mortality and immortality (Herakles, the Dioskouroi, Amphiaraos, and Asklepios), she newly interprets the value of immortality in the epinician corpus. Pindar's depiction of these figures responds to and shapes contemporary religious experience and revalues mortality as a prerequisite for the glory found in victory. The book combines close reading and philological analysis with religious historical approaches to Pindar's songs and his world. It highlights the inextricability of Greek literature and Greek religion, and models a novel approach to Greek lyric poetry at the intersection of these fields.
The present volume is centered on the notional domain of additivity. Many linguistic phenomena are based on additivity (i.e. are incremental) and additive relations are a mechanism that underlies a wide array of text types. Specifically, the present volume is centered on the class of function words which have been labeled, among many others, Additive Focusing Modifiers (FMs). The chapters gathered in this volume deal with the syntactic, prosodic and pragmatic properties of Additive FMs and new lines of research on these items are pursued, including (i) the historical development of Additive FMs and the use of these forms in older stages of the European languages; (ii) the pragmatic and sociolinguistic properties of Additive FMs, in particular of the functions they play in discourse and their distribution in different language varieties; (iii) the processing of Additive FMs by adults, in particular by relying on reading experiments involving eye tracking and self-paced reading; (iv) the use of Additive FMs in language contact situations and (v) the acquisition of Additive FMs by different learner groups.
Historical consensus increasingly views the Cold War period as a multifaceted conflict which extended beyond the borders of the USSR and USA, encompassing both cultural and diplomatic history. Debate remains, however, about how best to balance the Cold War as a cultural event with the existence of Cold War culture. Rethinking the Cinematic Cold War provides a fresh reassessment of this period, highlighting how the convergence of geopolitical interests, cultural production and exchange, and technological and media history shaped a unique epoch. Consequently, this volume seeks to diagnose the role cinema played in expanding the ideological outlook of artists, audiences, and policymakers.
Intorno a Boccaccio/Boccaccio e dintorni 2020 raccoglie gli Atti del Seminario che si è svolto a Certaldo Alta il 10-11 settembre 2020, in uno dei brevi intervalli che la pandemia ha lasciato aperti agli incontri in presenza. Il Seminario, giunto alla settima edizione, si configura non solo come una delle attività principali dell’Ente Giovanni Boccaccio, ma come un appuntamento di rilievo internazionale, la cui importanza è confermata dall’incremento continuo delle citazioni nella bibliografia scientifica. Anche l’edizione 2020 si qualifica per il rilievo e la varietà dei temi trattati, per il confluire e l’intrecciarsi di competenze storico-letterarie, filologiche, linguistiche, che portano a riflettere su argomenti importanti della cultura e delle fonti di Boccaccio e sulle sue opere, non senza dimenticare, in questo anno centenario 2021, il rapporto vitalissimo e fondamentale con Dante.
O livro nasceu de uma colaboração entre a Universidade Federal do Ceará, a Scuola Superiore Meridionale di Napoli e a Università degli Studi di Genova. É o resultado de uma conferência intitulada Letterature in contrappunto. Esperienze di critica letteraria tra Mediterraneo e Atlantico, que ocorreu no dia 8 de dezembro de 2020, na Universidade Federal do Ceará. O livro reverbera o tema que o intitula. Tenta colocar em diálogo pesquisas brasileiras e italianas que se contrastam, se entrelaçam ou simplesmente se complementam.
