Bioprocess and Analytics Development for Virus-based Advanced Therapeutics and Medicinal Products (ATMPs)
This book reviews the knowledge, methods and available techniques in the rapidly advancing field of virus based vaccines and gene therapeutics. It also highlights new innovative tools and interdisciplinary techniques for bioprocess development and analytics of viruses and viral vectors. As such, it provides a timely and highly relevant resource, since current advances in pharmaceutical research have seen the rise of vaccines and advanced therapeutics and medicinal products (ATMPs), that rely on the power of viruses. However, developing bioprocesses and analytics required to create this often called “magic bullet” (i.e. gene therapy) remains an extremely challenging and costly task. This book offers strategies for overcoming hurdles and difficulties within in all the necessary steps of viral vector development - from scalability to purification methods and quality control. The book is intended for researchers working in academia or industry, as well as graduate students pursuing a career in virology.

1979 wurden die beiden rheinischen Sammlungen Hahn und Ludwig anlässlich deren erster Präsentation im Wiener Palais Liechtenstein publiziert. Die beiden Sammlungen bilden bis heute mit exzellenten Exponaten der 1960er / 1970er Jahre einen bedeutenden Komplex der Sammlung des Museums und werden hier erstmals einer wissenschaftlichen Analyse unterzogen. Das Interesse der Kuratoren bei Ausstellung und Publikation gilt der Verschränkung von sprachlichen, visuellen und performativen Darstellungsformen. Die österreichischen Kunstrichtungen der 1960er-Jahre korrespondieren mit den internationalen Verschränkungen zwischen Pop-Art, Fluxus und Konzeptkunst, im Bestreben den Illusionismus des Tafelbildes zu überwinden. Albert Oehlen - Painting
Four decades after he first burst onto the international art scene in the early 1980s, Albert Oehlen (born 1954) remains among the most influential and controversial painters of the present. Operating between figuration and abstraction with vigor and energy, Oehlen relentlessly critiques painting's history, its clichés and its relationship to the imagery of the advertising and pop industries--all within the medium itself (rather than in another art form). Reproducing 110 works, this volume, designed by Heimo Zobernig, takes something of an artist's book approach to Oehlen's oeuvre, emphasizing its methodological complexity, vitality and conflicts. Alongside an interview between Oehlen and fellow painter Daniel Richter, this catalogue contains conversations on the implications of Oehlen's work between Rochelle Feinstein and Kerstin Stakemeier, and between Hal Foster and Achim Hochdörfer.

Franz West
For 30 years now, Viennese artist Franz West has been in his own artistic territory, and for the last 20, he has been one of the most influential working sculptors, as confirmed by a solo exhibition at The Museum of Modern Art in 1997. Through his "Passstücke" (passport pieces or adapters) of the 1970s, his furniture assemblies of the 1980s and bright exterior sculptures of the 1990s, West regularly irritates viewers with parody and outlandishness, and impresses with surprising solutions to the old social utopia of art and life. The implied invitation to touch his works disrupts the museum dynamic of velvet rope and burglar alarm, and leads to different levels of engagement--bodily, linguistic, philosophical and psychological--in which the artist's sense of humor shines through. This introduction to West's oeuvre is accompanied by commentaries, interpretation and details about his most recent work, developed over the past few years.
