ICGEO 2022
The 2nd Annual Conference of the International Conference of Geography (ICGEO) was held on November 19, 2022, with the theme "Discovering New Geography Trends." The conference was organized by the Department of Geography, Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Padang in West Sumatra, Indonesia. The conference utilized a combination of virtual and offline methods. The conference covered various topics, including advancements in geomorphology, meteorology, climatology, hydrology, historical geography, transport geography, industrial geography, rural settlement geography, and the ecology of agricultural systems. Additionally, the significance of geography in area studies was discussed. The conference commenced by examining the progress made in the field of geography. Subsequently, it explored diverse aspects of urban geography, the role of geography in physical and economic planning, studies on rural areas, and geographical research concerning local government. This monograph will be valuable for geography teachers, students, and practitioners.

RecordCovid19. Historicizing Experiences of the Pandemic provides insights into the experience of the Covid19 pandemic from an historical and sociological perspective. Using the first-hand testimonies submitted as part of the #RecordCovid19 project as its inspiration, the chapters in this edited collection explore and contextualise the initial responses to the Covid19 pandemic. The collection examines people’s relationships with Covid19 as an historical event, including their own experiences of living through history; their relationship with their surroundings, including their relationships with family, the soundscapes and the emotional environments of a pandemic world; the impact and tone of political rhetoric, including the use (and misuse) of wartime myths and language in the United Kingdom; and finally, what lessons can be learnt from how people discuss their own personal stories and what lessons can we draw from previous examples of storytelling in moments of crisis. The result is a fascinating and rich discussion derived from an archive full of idiosyncratic experiences of life changing during the Covid19 pandemic.

A tragedy is unfolding all around us and is receiving well overdue attention. Black women are three times more likely to die from pregnancy than their white peers. But Dr. Monique Rainford is working to better understand these disparities and do something about them. Pregnant While Black is a hopeful exploration of the issues pregnant Black women face in America. Within these pages, Dr. Rainford draws on over twenty years of experience working in obstetrics and gynecology to offer a primer on Black pregnancies and how to better care for them. She shares the successes and testimonies of Black women who have struggled during pregnancy and childbirth, anchoring the stories of these women with carefully researched facts. Despite medical advances over the last twenty years, for Black women, the overwhelming dangers of carrying and delivering children remain and it only seems to be getting worse. Edwin merasa tubuhnya lemas tak bertenaga pun dia merasa jika tubuhnya seolah melayang. Kakinya terasa tidak berpijak pada tanah. "Tolong berhenti," ujar Edwin lirih, tetapi tak dihiraukan oleh empat orang lelaki itu. "Diam dan jangan banyak bicara!" bentak salah seorang dari mereka. Edwin yang mendengarnya terdiam.
