This reference summarizes information about pharmaceuticals that can target infectious strains of coronaviruses to neutralize infections. Chapters focus on SARS-CoV-2, drug discovery methods and natural methods to combat the virus, which is a causative agent of COVID-19. Specifically, the book presents 5 chapters written by expert scholar on the following topics: Structure-Based Drug Discovery Approaches Applied to SARS-CoV-2 (the causative agent COVID- 19) Potential Antiviral Medicinal Plants against Novel SARS-CoV-2 Infections Caused by SARS Coronaviruses: Main Characteristics, Targets And Inhibitors Natural Sourced Traditional Indian and Chinese Medicines to Combat COVID- 19 Peptidomimetic and Peptide-Derived Agents Against 3CLpro from Coronaviruses The book contents present both conventional drug design and traditional approaches to discovering relevant drugs in an easy-to-read approach, which is supplemented by bibliographic references. It is intended as a reference for students (pharmacology, pharmacy) and researchers (virology) who are seeking information about antiviral drugs that can be used against coronaviruses.
The need to promote academic activities in telehealth remains a high priority as the discipline expands into new areas of healthcare. Response during 2020 to the COVID-19 pandemic has provided an excellent example of the rapid diversification and impact attainable with telehealth, and may kindle a new momentum for accelerated service design and adoption processes in the future. This book, Telehealth Innovations in Remote Healthcare Services Delivery, is the tenth in the Global Telehealth series. Due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions placed on academic gatherings, the organizers issued a general call for contributions, with the intention of attracting a wide cross-secti...

Helping readers gain a better understanding of the water, energy and food nexus challenges in the context of climate change, and featuring valuable insights that can be implemented in other areas, it will appeal to researchers and students as well as practitioners.
A multi-disciplinary team of authors analyze the economics of Brazilian deforestation using a large data set of ecological and economic variables. They survey the most up to date work in this field and present their own dynamic and spatial econometric analysis based on municipality level panel data spanning the entire Brazilian Amazon from 1970 to 1996. By observing the dynamics of land use change over such a long period the team is able to provide quantitative estimates of the long-run economic costs and benefits of both land clearing and government policies such as road building. The authors find that some government policies, such as road paving in already highly settled areas, are beneficial both for economic development and for the preservation of forest, while other policies, such as the construction of unpaved roads through virgin areas, stimulate wasteful land uses to the detriment of both economic growth and forest cover.
Toxicology: Oxidative Stress and Dietary Antioxidants examines the nature of oxidative stress as a consequence of exposure to toxins and how antioxidant approaches can mitigate the impact of toxicant exposures. Sections covers the basic biology of oxidative stress, from molecular biology, to physiological pathology, mechanisms of action of specific toxicants, metals and other chemicals/drugs, and antioxidant approaches and therapies for toxic exposures. With contributions from an international group of experts, useful summary sections, a dictionary of terms, and applications to other areas of toxicology, this book is an informative, consolidated reference that helps bridge the interrelationship between toxicology, oxidative stress and antioxidants. - Provides a novel collection of information linking both sides of redox biology (oxidants and antioxidants) and toxicology - Explores the role of free radical mediated damage and toxicology - Contains contributions from experts on toxicological science surrounding oxidative stress and on antioxidant approaches for reducing the impact of toxicant exposures
