Esta obra transita por la contemporaneidad para mostrarnos la transformación de las fuentes geohistóricas y catastrales a nivel nacional e internacional. Dicha documentación adquiere cada vez más importancia en el ámbito científico dado su potencial y versatilidad, pues afecta directamente a la configuración de los espacios, su comprensión y evolución histórica desde dinámicas sociales, económicas y geopolíticas. The Archive of Hispanic Literature on Tape
Ever since 1945, when Gabriela Mistral was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature, the Hispanic Foundation in the Library of Congress had been looking forward to an opportunity to record her voice for posterity. She graciously accepted the invitation, despite her policy of not reading her poetry in public. The Library's recording of the Chilean poet is the only one extant. The materials accumulated since 1943 were acknowledged to be unique and of the highest quality. In 1958 the Library evolved a program for a well-integrated collection of noteworthy Hispanic literature--either verse or prose--on tape. With the aid of a generous grant from the Rockefeller Foundation, a pilot project was undertaken in the same year, September to December inclusive. The salient feature of the project was that the Library commissioned the curator of the Archive, Francisco Aguilera, to visit Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay and obtain recordings on magnetic tape expressly for the Library of Congress. During September and November 1960, Panama, Guatemala, and Mexico were visited, and in April-June 1961 collecting continued in Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela.
Asphodels
In Greek mythology, the asphodel is a flower associated with death; the souls of ordinary mortals are sent to the Asphodel Meadows, vast fields of the underworld. In the twelve stories of Asphodels, Mexican author Bernardo Couto Castillo (1879-1901), a cult figure in Mexico due to his short life and French-influenced Decadent writings, explores death in its many varieties, from Lady Death wandering the streets of the city in merciless search of her next victim, to a hypochondriac who goes mad out of fear of death, to an ultra-refined killer turning to murder due to the beauty of its "symphony in White and Red", to the extraordinary final metaphysical account of the torture of a soul. Although asphodels do not make a single appearance in this collection, they are like death itself: invisible, everywhere. Asphodels, originally published in 1897, was the only book to appear in the author's lifetime. Presented here for the first time in English, in a superb translation by Jessica Sequeira, it will be sure to gratify lovers of Decadent fiction, horror and modernismo.

This pioneering work, now available for the first time in English, seeks to analyze the political process in Argentina, a nation that has long aspired to political leadership of Latin America but has failed to fulfill its aspiration because of political fragmentation and factionalism. In determining who holds power in Argentina, Professor Imaz assembled information on the social backgrounds of political leaders and party workers, military officers, large landowners, managers and owners of industry and commerce, the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church, and officials of labor unions. This considerable amount of data for the years 1936–1961 provides the basis for a comparison of the processes of recruitment and the different social outlooks of the various elites. Professor Imaz's frequently cited book has gone through six printings in Argentina since first publication in 1964. For the English translation, he has added material that brings the data up to date. Professor Astiz has provided an introduction that places the study in context for those who are not familiar with Argentine history and politics.
