The underlying technology and the range of test parameters available are evolving rapidly. The primary advantage of POCT is the convenience of performing the test close to the patient and the speed at which test results can be obtained, compared to sending a sample to a laboratory and waiting for results to be returned. Grundlage der vorliegenden Bibliographie sind die 29 Bände der Bibliographischen Berichte, die als universaler Nachweis von Bibliographien von 1959 bis 1987 erschienen sind. Ziel der Internationalen Bibliographie der Bibliographien 1959-1988 ist es, den Gesamtdatenbestand in kumulierter Form leicht zugänglich zu machen. Die Titel sind in einer einheitlichen Systematik nach Themengebieten zusammengefasst. Insgesamt werden ca. 176.000 Titel erschlossen. Bibliothekaren, Dokumentaren und Informationsvermittlern wird mit den Bibliographien der zweiten Stufe ein wichtiges Hilfsmittel für die Selektion und Wertung von Bibliographien an die Hand gegeben.
