Dialogues of Seduction
Marian decides to leave NY and visit Paris in order to take some time away from her unfulfilling relationship with Richard, her husband of 7 years. Richard is also ready for a break but feels more comfortable having his wife take the initiative. Later Marian meets Vincent, Pia meets Rudolph, Richard meets Oriana and all of these characters in the story while establishing connections with other people during a few days of turbulent events, they all share their deepest feelings and darkest secrets. They try to compare the first time they fell in love with their current patterns of relationships and make amazing discoveries about their personalities. They become aware of how they connect to other people and how they would like to relate in the future. Their insightful discoveries take them to a place where they have the chance to feel free to move into a new life. Their challenge will be to make the choice of turning away from their past or returning to their familiar pattern of behavior.

Between Encyclopedia and Chorography
During the early modern period, regional specified compendia – which combine information on local moral and natural history, towns and fortifications with historiography, antiquarianism, images series or maps – gain a new agency in the production of knowledge. Via literary and aesthetic practices, the compilations construct a display of regional specified knowledge. In some cases this display of regional knowledge is presented as a display of a local cultural identity and is linked to early modern practices of comparing and classifying civilizations. At the core of the publication are compendia on the Americas which research has described as chorographies, encyclopeadias or – more recently – 'cultural encyclopaedias'. Studies on Asian and European encyclopeadias, universal histories and chorographies help to contextualize the American examples in the broader field of an early modern and transcultural knowledge production, which inherits and modifies the ancient and medieval tradition.
Top Ten Fictional Narratives in Early Modern Europe
This volume examines the ten most popular fictional narratives in early modern Europe between 1470 and 1800. Each of these narratives was marketed in numerous European languages and circulated throughout several centuries. Combining literary studies and book history, this work offers for the first time a transnational perspective on a selected text corpus of this genre. It explores the spatio-temporal transmission of the texts in different languages and the materiality of the editions: the narratives were bought, sold, read, translated and adapted across European borders, from the south of Spain to Iceland and from Great Britain to Poland. Thus, the study analyses the multi-faceted processes of cultural circulation, translation and adaptation of the texts. In their diverse forms of mediality such as romance, drama, ballad and penny prints, they also make a significant contribution to a European identity in the early modern period. The narrative texts examined here include Apollonius, Septem sapientum, Amadis de Gaula, Fortunatus, Pierre de Provence et la belle Maguelonne, Melusine, Griseldis, Aesopus’ Life and Fables, Reynaert de vos and Till Ulenspiegel.
Digital Scholarly Editions Beyond Text
Scholarly editions contextualize our cultural heritage. Traditionally, methodologies from the field of scholarly editing are applied to works of literature, e.g. in order to trace their genesis or present their varied history of transmission. What do we make of the variance in other types of cultural heritage? How can we describe, record, and reproduce it systematically? From medieval to modern times, from image to audiovisual media, the book traces discourses across different disciplines in order to develop a conceptual model for scholarly editions on a broader scale. By doing so, it also delves into the theory and philosophy of the (digital) humanities as such.

Civic virtues were central to early modern Nürnberg’s visual culture. These essays in this volume explore Nürnberg as a location from which to study the intersection of art and power. The imperial city was awash in emblems, and they informed most aspects of everyday life. Geboten wird eine handschriftennahe Neuausgabe der drei Versionen des aventiurehaften Dietrichepos ('Heidelberger', 'Wiener' und 'Dresdner Virginal'), ergänzt durch knappe Erläuterungen zu den Textzeugen, zur Versionenbildung und zum Editionsverfahren sowie durch Literatur- und Namensverzeichnisse. Beigegeben ist ferner das themenverwandte Goldemar-Fragment. Damit werden der Forschung eine überlieferungsnahe Textgrundlage für Interpretationen und Material für weiterführende Untersuchungen zu heldenepischer Fassungsbildung und Varianz zur Verfügung gestellt
