There is an increased awareness on the relevance of nutraceutical and functional foods as alternatives to harmful synthetic additives used in industry. Different peppers, with an abundance of bioactive compounds, are highlighted in this book, which provides a comprehensive evaluaton of their importance as nutraceutical and functional foods to all stakeholders in the agri-food and pharmaceutical industries. Peppers: Biological, Health, and Postharvest Perspectives is a valuable addition to the existing information resource on peppers. Key features: Highlights the advancements made in biodiversity, biochemistry and biosynthesis of bioactive compounds of peppers. Reviews the effects of processing methods on the quality of peppers to facilitate further research and development of foods having pepper as an essential nutritional component. Provides help in selecting better processing methods for the management of nutritional attributes and health benefits of peppers. The book provides a blend of basic and advanced information for postgraduate students, researchers and scientists

The book covers the molecular biology of the cell, genetic machinery and its function, general coverage on diet and nutrition, pregnancy, placenta, weight gain, breast milk, feeding practices, gestational disease, glucose metabolism, immunity, vitamins and minerals. Other topics discusses include fetal programming, bioactive compounds, amino acids, intrauterine growth, one carbon metabolism, overnutrition, genetic risk factors, polymorphisms, folic acid genes, DNA methylation, genes involved in lipid metabolism, microRNAs, epigenetics, transcriptomics and micro RNA. This book will be a welcomed reference for research scientists and practitioners, including nutritionists and dieticians.
This book is distinctive in that it focuses exclusively on current laparoscopic and endoscopic techniques for inguinal, primary and incisional abdominal wall, and hiatal hernias. Individual steps in diagnosis and treatment are described by experts in the field, but this clinical expertise is also integrated with the best available external evidence from systematic research as encapsulated in statements, recommendations, and guidelines. The reader will thus not only learn how to perform techniques systematically and reproducibly but also come to understand which of the procedures have been scientifically validated by studies, reviews, and meta-analyses and which have simply developed empirica...
By browsing about 10 000 000 scientific articles of over 200 major journals mainly in a 'cover to cover approach' some 200 000 publications were selected. The extracted data is part of the following fundamental material research fields: crystal structures (S), phase diagrams (also called constitution) (C) and the comprehensive field of intrinsic physical properties (P). This work has been done systematically starting with the literature going back to 1900. The above mentioned research field codes (S, C, P) as well as the chemical systems investigated in each publication were included in the present work. The aim of the Inorganic Substances Bibliography is to provide researchers with a comprehensive compilation of all up to now published scientific publications on inorganic systems in only three handy volumes.
