Danmark står midt i store forandringer.

This account of the voyage across the east-west axis of the Baltic Sea explores the evidence for the sites described -- and also those purposefully omitted -- by Wulfstan during the 9th century.
In the 1990s, interventionist policies challenged the rights of individual states to self-governance. Today, non-Western states are more likely to be feted by international institutions offering programs of poverty-reduction, democratization and good governance. States without the right to self-government will always lack legitimate authority. The international policy agenda focuses on bureaucratic mechanisms, which can only institutionalize divisions between the West and the non-West and are unable to overcome the social and political divisions of post-conflict states. Highlighting the dangers of current policy—including the redefinition of sovereignty, and the subsequent erosion of ties linking power and accountability—David Chandler offers a critical look at state-building that will be of interest to all students of international affairs.
This book presents seven case studies of large Danish investment companies in India and China. The case studies provide intriguing perspectives on the strategic and managerial challenges and opportunities facing Western multinational corporations operating in these two Asian giants. The case studies encourage readers to adopt a decision maker's perspective, targeting students and managers interested in multinational corporation strategy in emerging markets.
This volume connects the study of statebuilding to broader aspects of social theory and the historical study of the state, bringing forth new questions and starting-points, both academically and practically, for the field. Building states has become a highly prioritized issue in international politics. Since the 1990s, mainly Western countries and international institutions have invested large sums of money, vast amounts of manpower, and considerable political capital in ventures of this kind all across the globe. Most of the focus in current literature is on the acute cases, such as Afghanistan and Iraq, but also to states that seem to fit the label ‘failed states’ such as Liberia, Sier...
Salafism has become one of the West's new political bogeymen. Many regard the movement as a by-product of a centralized foreign-policy platform shaped by so-called Saudi interests, as well as the chosen ideology of violent groups such as al-Qaeda. Based on extensive research conducted throughout Yemen between 2001 and 2009 -- particularly in the southern province of Yâfi' -- this book offers an original approach to Salafism and draws a necessary counternarrative, considering the dynamics of the Salafi movement as well as its relationship to evolving local, regional, and international contexts. Having studied more than a hundred recorded sermons and conferences and dozens of books, and havin...
