Eschewing the traditional focus on object/viewer spatial relationships, Timothy Scott Barker's Time and the Digital stresses the role of the temporal in digital art and media. The connectivity of contemporary digital interfaces has not only expanded the relationships between once separate spaces but has increased the complexity of the temporal in nearly unimagined ways. Barker puts forward the notion that the new ways we interact with digital media, including ever-expanding digital networks and databases that house vast amounts of data, actually produce a new type of time. Invoking the process philosophy of Whitehead and Deleuze, and taking examples from the history of media art as well as our daily interaction with digital technology, he strives for nothing less than a new philosophy of time in digital encounters, aesthetics, and interactivity. Of interest to scholars in the fields of art and media theory and philosophy of technology, as well as new media artists, this study contributes to an understanding of the new temporal experiences emergent in our interactions with digital technologies.

On the many lives and mediums of a postwar Italian artist-adventurer Published on the occasion of her long-deserved retrospective at Muzeum Susch, this book testifies to the singular vision of Italian artist Laura Grisi (1939-2017) within contemporary art history. Born in Greece, educated in Paris and living between New York and Rome, where she died, Grisi spent long periods of her life in Africa, South America and Polynesia. This involvement with non-Western cultures indelibly marked her own search for a cosmic thinking. Although her work is often reduced to Pop art, Grisi always worked within the fundamental motif of the "journey"--from remote locations visited and documented, to the multiplicity of mediums used. Grisi embodied a stateless, nomadic female subject defying the politics of identity, the univocity of representation and the unidirectionality of time. Grisi's work spans from her avant-garde Variable Paintingsof the mid-1960s and her 1970s pioneering environmental installations dealing with fog, wind and rain, to her conceptual photo-works of the 1980s.

During the 1960s and 1970s, Workerism and Autonomia were prominent Marxist currents. However, it is rarely acknowledged that these movements inspired many visual artists such as the members of Archizoom, Gordon Matta-Clark and Gianfranco Baruchello. This book focuses on the aesthetic and cultural discourse developed by three generations of militants (including Mario Tronti, Antonio Negri, Bifo and Silvia Federici), and how it was appropriated by artists, architects, graphic designers and architectural historians such as Manfredo Tafuri. Images of Class signposts key moments of this dialogue, ranging from the drawings published on classe operaia to Potere Operaio's exhibition in Paris, the Metropolitan Indians' zines, a feminist art collective who adhered to the Wages for Housework Campaign, and the N group's experiments with Gestalt theory.
