Trata-se de obra coletiva que busca destacar as interfaces entre Democracia, Direitos Humanos e Cidadania. Toma-se como ponto de partida a noção contemporânea de democracia, que envolve, necessariamente, a valorização dos direitos humanos e do princípio da soberania popular. Esta visão aponta a necessária atenção a um conceito substantivo de democracia, que extrapola o viés formal da participação periódica na escolha de representantes, e encontra materialização no respeito à ordem jurídica e, sobretudo, na efetivação de direitos, que possibilitam o atingimento de valores como a dignidade da pessoa humana e a igualdade.
Direitos Fundamentais e Judicialização de Políticas Públicas
A presente obra coletiva comporta uma série de estudos voltados à compreensão e problematização de temática de bastante relevo na contemporaneidade, a valorização político-institucional do Poder Judiciário e especialmente das Cortes constitucionais em face dos demais Poderes, a absorver demandas originalmente definidas nos âmbitos políticos, em nome da efetivação dos direitos fundamentais. Seja por força do cenário de retração da representatividade do Legislativo e do Executivo, seja por força de disposição constitucional, fato é que, na atualidade, os órgãos judiciais ocupam lugar nunca antes alcançado por estas estruturas, ao menos em sentido tão significativo.

Technological Innovation for Applied AI Systems
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 12th IFIP WG 5.5/SOCOLNET Advanced Doctoral Conference on Computing, Electrical and Industrial Systems, DoCEIS 2021, held in Costa de Caparica, Portugal, in July 2021.* The 34 papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 92 submissions. Nanocarriers for Drug Delivery
This book covers basic aspects of different nanoparticles, including type of materials, lipid, polymeric and inorganic structures, synthesis strategies, as well as the main physicochemical characterization techniques. Moreover, this book addresses applications for both treatment and diagnosis of diseases, highlighting in vitro and in vivo findings and clinical evaluation. The chapters highlight the main barriers for drug delivery which can benefit from nanoencapsulation: the topical and oral routes. The main innovations in the field, such as gene therapy and functionalization of nanoparticles with a variety of moieties, including monoclonal antibodies for selective delivery, are discussed and illustrated with examples. Finally, the application of nanoparticles for drug delivery to cancer is reviewed considering toxicology and regulatory aspects.
