En esta obra se reúnen las iniciativas, pero también las experiencias vividas, por las y los autores que han participado como estudiantes de distintas promociones de las siete primeras versiones del Diplomado en Educación para el Desarrollo Sustentable y cómo este, tanto en la interacción del ejercicio académico de intercambio de saberes como la experiencia –en sí misma– de haberlo cursado ha significado en su desarrollo como persona y en la ejecución de su iniciativa en el colectivo al que pertenece. Consideramos, entonces, que el mayor mérito de este libro es presentar la huella que ha dejado en las y los autores de las iniciativas este diplomado surgido en una época de movilizaciones sociales por una educación gratuita y de calidad que ha marcado a la sociedad chilena.
Fibromialgia, más allá del cuerpo.
"Fibromialgia, más allá del cuerpo. Una aproximación interdisciplinaria" ofrece una lectura sobre este trastorno crónico mediante áreas tan diferentes como la medicina, la biología y las humanidades. Se trata de una propuesta teórico/práctica enraizada en el estudio de la literatura científica y en el dato empírico que aportan profesionales clínicos y terapeutas que han atendido a cientos de pacientes durante su trayectoria. Precisamente ese cruce de conocimientos y diálogos abre un camino para entender y acompañar a las personas que sufren y cómo contribuir a mejorar su calidad de vida. A diferencia de otros textos académicos, el foco de atención de esta publicación no es la fibromialgia en sí misma, sino las personas diagnosticadas con ella. Con ese horizonte, los capítulos del libro incluyen casos clínicos, citas y testimonios de pacientes porque se pone al sujeto en el centro de la investigación interdisciplinaria y, con ello se impulsa la reflexión, la creatividad y el diálogo en torno a la manera cómo la sociedad responde organizadamente a los problemas de salud que nos aquejan hoy.

Integrating Lifelong Learning Perspectives
This book contains the major papers presented during the International Conference on Lifelong Learning: Global Perspectives on Education, held in Beijing, China, from 1 to 3 July 2001. Almost 200 participants from government agencies, academic institutions, research organizations, multilateral agencies and non-government organizations from 40 countries, shared their policies and practices on lifelong learning in their respective contexts. This compilation illustrates the range of perspectives and practices in different parts of the world. The organizers of this conference, the Beijing Academy of Educational Sciences, the Chinese National Commission of UNESCO, the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education, the Socrates Program of the European Commission and the UNESCO Institute for Education looked forward to the unique opportunity of bringing together such a range of stakeholders, not only for exchanging experiences but more important, to collectively reflect and analyse the implications for policy and educational practices of such discourses and experiences.

Landscapes are frequently seen as fragments of natural habitat surrounded by a 'sea' of agriculture. But recent ecological theory shows that the nature of these fragments is not nearly as important for conservation as is the nature of the matrix of agriculture that surrounds them.
