Transversalidad y biopolítica: Cuerpos, géneros y saberes
La obra incita a los análisis biopolíticos diferenciados entre los cuerpos femeninos, masculinos y/o trans. Cuatro de los capítulos mapea cómo en el entramado de la gestión de los procesos biológicos, estos se materializan no sólo en las familias, sino en concreto se ensaña en los cuerpos de las mujeres como el blanco principal para la expansión feroz del neoliberalismo. Por otra parte, dos capítulos discuten sobre la recolonización y sujeción de cuerpos y los procesos biológicos de la población a través de transitar entre el pasado, en específico en los procesos de animalización del poder pastoral en el periodo de la conquista, en el presente cotidiano a partir del "dispositivo algoritmo" donde la mirada constante y la escritura están consolidado un mundo extremadamente vigilado y cerrado. La obra nos propone repensar nuevos modos de género, nuevos modos de hacer política y nuevos modos de vivir-existir en colectivo.
Book of Abstracts. Workshop on Simulation and Optimization for Sustainable Engineering
The Workshop on Simulation and Optimization for Sustainable Engineering is held in Santander (September 28th-29th) on the occasion of the visit of Prof. Ignacio Grossmann to the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering of the Universidad de Cantabria in the framework of the Fulbright U.S. Specialist Program. This workshop is organized in collaboration with AQUIQÁN, the Association of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Cantabria, with the aims of serving both as a forum of discussion of the recent advances in the topic and a meeting point of the closest collaborators of Prof. Grossmann in Spain over the last years. Overall, 30 researchers will take part in this event coming from several universities (Alicante, Cantabria, Rovira i Virgili, Salamanca, Sevilla, and Valladolid) and the IMDEA Materials Institute. The program includes a plenary lecture imparted by Prof. Grossmann, one keynote presentation representative of each institution and around 15 oral presentations from young researchers.

2CO Communicating complexity
2CO COmmunicating COmplexity is the international design conference aiming at exploring languages, approaches and technologies to respond to the emerging need for making complex information accessible throught design. 2CO’s first edition (25-26 October 2013, Alghero, Italy) has gathered an international community of professionals and scholars active in this area to share experiences, points of views and methodologies, focusing on three main areas of interest: informative-animation, interactive data visualization, info-graphics. This volume collects their contributions in the three conference categories: full papers, posters and ‘junior track’ special session. Perpetuating Power
The widely acclaimed explication of Mexican politics from "one of the most insightful Mexican intellectuals" (The New York Times Book Review). Advances in Computational Biology
This volume compiles accepted contributions for the 2nd Edition of the Colombian Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Congress CCBCOL, after a rigorous review process in which 54 papers were accepted for publication from 119 submitted contributions. Bioinformatics and Computational Biology are areas of knowledge that have emerged due to advances that have taken place in the Biological Sciences and its integration with Information Sciences.
