Este libro ofrece un estudio de la antroponimia caballeresca centrado en el ciclo amadisiano. Tras un marco histórico y teórico acerca del nombre propio y un estado de la cuestión de la antroponimia literaria medieval y áurea, se analiza la antroponimia en cada una de las entregas del ciclo amadisiano. El estudio incluye una serie de capítulos generales que señalan la importancia del árbol genealógico, la funcionalidad del nombre propio y sus mecanismos de formación y campos semánticos más habituales, y la homonimia antroponímica con otros textos caballerescos. Una colección de rigurosos ensayos históricos sobre las imágenes que diferentes pueblos europeos elaboraron en el periodo sobre España y los españoles. España era entonces la principal potencia político-militar europea con una ostensible presencia cultural y religiosa, de ahí la contundencia de las imágenes y los estereotipos que forjaron parte de la llamada leyenda negra.

Al leer la obra dramática de Lope de Vega, uno de los aspectos que destacan es la gran cantidad de cartas (o de los llamados, entre otros nombres, «papeles», «billetes» o «cédulas») que aparecen en ella. Y es que el empleo del recurso de la carta fue una técnica muy utilizada por los dramaturgos del Siglo de Oro español. Pese a todo, no existen estudios sobre nuestro teatro áureo que aborden este tema en profundidad desde cualquiera de las múltiples perspectivas que permite. Tan solo he encontrado unos pocos y breves artículos. Este libro pretende suplir esa ausencia de ensayos dedicados al uso del género epistolar en el teatro de los siglos XVI y XVII, centrándome en Lope de Vega. Su incuestionable calidad literaria y su prolífica producción teatral proporcionan un corpus bastante significativo y amplio como para que se puedan extraer datos acerca de la idiosincrasia de la carta en la dramaturgia lopesca.
