Das Ziel des vorliegenden Bandes ist es, die Themen Krankheit, Gesundheit und Behinderung aus vielfältigen Perspektiven zu betrachten und zu verstehen. Dabei wird jeweils sowohl die physische als auch die psychische Seite thematisiert. Dementsprechend werden Ansätze und Befunde verschiedener Wissenschaftsdisziplinen (z. B. Gesundheitswissenschaft, Medizin, Klinische Psychologie, Pädagogik und Philosophie) berücksichtigt. It is the objective of the present volume to consider and understand the issues disease, health and disability from various perspectives. In doing so, the physical as well as the mental sides are brought up for each case. Correspondingly, approaches and findings of various science disciplines (e.g. health sciences, medicine, clinical psychology, pedagogy and philosophy) are considered.

Erlangen
This work is a historiography of the German town of Erlangen, which lies approximately 20 kilometers north of Nuremberg in the Franconian region of Bavaria. With a current population of just over 100,000, the city is primarily noted for its university and as the headquarters of the Siemens Corporation. In this book, author Gary Fouse, who spent three years as a U.S. military policeman in Erlangen, traces the history of Erlangen from its humble beginnings as a village in 1002 to the current era. Fouse describes the city during the most important historical events in German history including the Reformation, the Thirty Years War, the Napoleonic Wars, the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871, the two world wars and post-World War II recovery. Fouse delves into the life of the city under the rule of the House of Hohenzollern, the arrival in 1686 of French Huguenot refugees, the founding of the university, and the history of the Jewish community in Erlangen. Also detailed is the history of the U.S. Army in Erlangen from 1945 to 1994. The author's personal accounts provide an interesting look into the lives of the Americans, both inside and outside the caserne.
Subjective quality of life and social work
Social Widerspiegelung is a central area of human life, however, it has been little researched for the theorization of social work. Otger Autrata and Bringfriede Scheu present the foundations of social Widerspiegelung and establish the essential connection between social Widerspiegelung and subjective quality of life. This makes an important contribution to the development of social work theory: The basic research on social Widerspiegelung is linked to the tasks of social work in discipline and profession.

Seven Years Among Prisoners of War
One of these was Chris Christiansen, who had just graduated from Theological School at Copenhagen University when he took a position with the World's Alliance of the YMCAs to work with British, American, and other Allied prisoners of war in Germany. The next seven years were, for him, "an amazing experience." The prisoners faced cold, starvation, loneliness, deprivation, and cruel and arbitrary treatment. Those who served among them - unrecognized in the headlines or history text - worked tirelessly and patiently to relieve the conditions of the prisoners as much as possible. Christiansen, who was also arrested in Berlin and imprisoned in Moscow experienced this grim aspect of warfare from both sides.
