Em outubro de 2011 aconteceu o VII Colóquio Internacional Michel Foucault, promovido pelo Grupo de Pesquisa Michel Foucault, do Departamento de Filosofia da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP). O evento, que reuniu professores e estudantes de várias áreas do conhecimento e procedentes de diversas regiões do Brasil e do exterior, celebrou o cinquentenário de publicação de História da loucura na Idade Clássica, célebre livro de Foucault, e teve como tema "O mesmo e o outro". Este livro reúne textos elaborados pelos participantes e discutidos no evento. A obra apresenta reflexões acerca de variados temas relacionados a História da loucura na Idade Clássica e das decorrências que ele suscita. Entre análises sobre o campo da medicina psiquiátrica, sobre as políticas e práticas da psiquiatria e sobre abordagens da loucura em diferentes âmbitos, os autores desta obra certamente contribuem para os desdobramentos do pensamento de Michel Foucault e para proporcionar novas investigações nas mais diversas áreas do saber.
Michel Foucault, The Courage of Truth and The Ethics of an Intellectual
The relationship between two distinct periods in Michel Foucault's work is the starting point for this book. In "Truth and Power," an interview Foucault gave in 1976, he states that to create a new politics of truth is an intellectual's main task. In this book, Priscila Piazentini Vieira analyzes Foucault's study on ancient culture and courage of truth in the 1980s as his main contribution to our construction of a new politics of truth, much diverse from modernity's prevailing understanding of it grounded on the will to knowledge. Furthermore, she analyzes Foucault's militant practice and his GIP experience from a corpus constructed by papers, courses, interviews, and books written by the philosopher between the 1970s and 1980s. By clearly linking Foucault’s work on to his own militant activity, the book also aims to develop an original definition of the intellectual at the crossroad of political engagement, the production of knowledge, and the manifestation of the truth.

From artists, scholars, technicians and conservators—to preserve this contemporary art is a transdisciplinary task. This book brings together leading international experts from digital art theory and preservation, digital humanities, collection management, conservation and media art histories. Governing Turbulence, Risk and Opportunities in the Complexity Age
The book is composed of several articles that explore complexity in its most varied aspects. The solution of contemporary problems, whatever they may be, requires a multifaceted vision, far beyond the reductionist perspective. The study of complex systems, however, does not have the capacity to offer ready answers to the challenges of humanity. On the contrary, it points to the increase in uncertainty, the need to control variables, and uncertainty. This does not mean, therefore, that we should simply ignore the social, economic, and political phenomena that are all around us. What this book demonstrates is the importance of knowledge being disseminated, and it is imperative that different sciences exchange ideas, theories, and breakthroughs.

No curso consagrado em 1982 à Hermenêutica do sujeito, Michel Foucault apresenta uma investigação da noção de “cuidado de si” que, bem mais do que o “conhece-te a ti mesmo”, organiza as práticas da filosofia. Ao descrever o modo de subjetivação antiga, ele busca tornar patente a precariedade do modo de subjetivação moderno. Foucault in Brazil
Philosopher Michel Foucault’s cultural criticism crosses disciplines and is well known as an influence on modern conceptions of knowledge and power. Less well known are the five trips he took to Brazil between 1965 and 1976. Although a coup in 1964 had installed a military dictatorship, Foucault kept his opinion on the Brazilian government largely to himself until October 23, 1975. On that date, he delivered a manifesto at a student assembly in São Paulo expressing his solidarity with students and professors protesting a wave of arrests and torture. This manifesto caught the government’s attention and became the focal point of the dictatorship’s surveillance of Foucault. Foucault in Brazil explores the production of the public antagonism between the philosopher and the dictatorship through a meticulous consideration of each of his visits to Brazil.
