Identity Issues in European Literatures
This trilingual volume sets out to address the forms of otherness and types of the Other through the example of case studies of European literatures and to look at them from an intercultural perspective. The concept of the Other not only varied from epoch to epoch, but it was tied to the development of the respective culture. Reflection on identity and otherness forms the core of the contributions collected in this volume, which focus on texts, authors or myths from French, German, English, Polish, Russian and Swedish literature from the 16th century until today. The selection of texts is intended to demonstrate the complexity and originality of the theme of otherness versus identity in contemporary literary research and to point to ist topicality. The volume sees itself as the result of comparative studies in which literary researchers discuss selected aspects of identityforming otherness, especially on a narrative level.

Investigation of Anti-Icing Chemicals and Their Interactions with Pavement Concretes
The interactions of concrete specimens (both plain and with fly ash addition) with six different deicers was investigated by exposing them to solutions of sodium chloride (NaCl), magnesium chloride (MgCl2), calcium chloride (CaCl2), and the combinations of: sodium chloride with magnesium chloride (NaCl + MgCl2), sodium chloride with calcium chloride (NaCl + CaCl2), sodium chloride with agricultural by product - Ice Ban® (NaCl + Ice Ban®). The Silver Library of Duke Albrecht of Prussia and his wife Anna Maria
The Silver Library ( Silber Bibliothek) of Albrecht, Duke of Prussia, and his wife Anna Maria is an absolutely unique collection of volumes bound in richly decorated precious metal. It was founded between the end of the 1540s and the beginning of the 1560s as a manifestation of the splendor of the ducal court and a deep reverence for the Word of God and Lutheran thought. Originally it consisted of twenty items mainly created in goldsmith workshops in Königsberg, Nuremberg and probably Münden. This monograph gives a historical overview of the Silver Library against the background of the ducal couple’s lives as well as the culture of the 16th-century Prussia. It also presents an analysis of the bindings as examples of the Renaissance and Mannerist art of goldsmithing.
