O sonho de um livro de oncologia voltado para a graduação surgiu em uma da faculdade de medicina da Universidade Federal do Ceará – Campus Sobral, por discentes do sexto ao oitavo semestre, os quais não possuíam, talvez, o discernimento do tamanho desse projeto que acabara de ser sonhado. A partir dessa semente semeada nesse dia, houve períodos de crescimento contínuo e, também, bastantes dias cinzentos que não possibilitavam essa planta crescer. No entanto, por meio da colaboração de cerca de 70 pessoas dentre acadêmicos, residentes e staffs, conseguimos cultivar esse plantio e fazê-lo desenvolver.

Amazonia is never quite what it seems. Despite regular attention in the media and numerous academic studies the Brazilian Amazon is rarely appreciated as a historical place home to a range of different societies. Often left invisible are the families who are making a living from the rivers and forests of the region. Broadly characterizing these people as peasants Amazon Peasant Societies in a Changing Environment seeks to bring together research by anthropologists, historians, political ecologists and biologists.
