Influence of Aggregate-Binder Adhesion on Fatigue Life of Asphalt Mixtures
The adhesiveness between aggregate and asphalt binder is believed to affect the life cycle of asphalt pavements, mainly in the presence of water. One of the most common asphalt pavement distresses is fatigue cracking. The objective of this article is to investigate the relationship between adhesion properties and fatigue life of asphalt mixtures. The asphalt bond strength test was used to measure adhesion (pull-off tensile strength) at two different moisture conditioning states: unconditioned (or dry) and conditioned in distilled water for 24 h at 40°C. The test consists of measuring the pull-off pressure required to break an aggregate-binder interface, called the pull-off tensile strength....

O CONSTITUCIONALISMO ABUSIVO NA JUSTIÇA CONSTITUCIONAL BRASILEIRA
O constitucionalismo não é achado de um grupo de juristas e/ou políticos, senão resultado de muitos séculos de ensaios, erros e acertos, tornando sua análise, por natureza, complexa. Examinando as suas variadas formas de manifestação, a presente obra constata que o constitucionalismo se traduz geralmente em um movimento garantista, cristalizador de anseios políticos, sociais e jurídicos pela limitação do poder arbitrário. Sua natureza típica é emancipatória, com nítida feição democrática. Ocorre que o constitucionalismo também pode se degenerar. Este livro ambiciona analisar justamente o ponto de inflexão no qual o remédio (constitucionalismo) se transforma em veneno. Fala-se, então, em um constitucionalismo abusivo, no objetivo de descrever a utilização de mecanismos aparentemente constitucionais, mas que manobrados por quaisquer dos atores constitucionais relevantes, inclusive a própria Corte Constitucional, são capazes de tornar um Estado significativamente menos democrático do que antes e gerar o risco de transição a regimes autoritários.
