Este livro é resultado da convergência de dois processos complementares. Por um lado, reúne os textos apresentados na quarta edição do Simpósio de Pós-Graduação em Relações Internacionais, evento acadêmico bienal promovido pelo Programa Interinstitucional (Unesp/Unicamp/PUC/SP) “San Tiago Dantas”. Por outro, congrega os trabalhos desenvolvidos a partir do Projeto Internacional de Extensão Universitária “Observatório de Política Exterior”, que envolve acadêmicos brasileiros, argentinos e uruguaios. Assim, ambos os processos representam 10 anos de esforços em estudar, compartilhar e informar sobre a Política Externa, especialmente a Política Exterior Brasileira.
Repensando a Política Externa Brasileira (1822-2022): Novas Abordagens e Interpretações
Em 2022, o Brasil completou 200 anos de sua Independência. Esse é um momento propício para repensar a inserção internacional do Brasil ao longo desses dois séculos. Ao mesmo tempo, a produção sobre política externa se avolumou nos últimos anos, sendo necessária uma avaliação das tendências de pesquisa. Este livro constitui o primeiro balanço da produção, na forma de teses e dissertações, sobre a política externa brasileira, realizadas nos últimos 20 anos. Esta vasta produção, que alcança quase mil trabalhos desenvolvidos, em diversas universidades, é analisada na forma de capítulos, divididos tematicamente. O livro reúne 32 capítulos de 40 autores, especialistas em política externa brasileira, de 16 universidades. Cada capítulo busca identificar as abordagens teórico-metodológicas, as novas fontes de pesquisa, bem como sistematizar as inovações interpretativas sobre a inserção internacional do Brasil desde sua independência. Assim, este livro propicia uma imersão nesta produção acadêmica e uma reflexão sobre a inserção internacional do Brasil nos últimos dois séculos.

Modernity in Black and White
Modernity in Black and White provides a groundbreaking account of modern art and modernism in Brazil. Departing from previous accounts, mostly restricted to the elite arenas of literature, fine art and architecture, the book situates cultural debates within the wider currents of Brazilian life. From the rise of the first favelas, in the 1890s and 1900s, to the creation of samba and modern carnival, over the 1910s and 1920s, and tracking the expansion of mass media and graphic design, into the 1930s and 1940s, it foregrounds aspects of urban popular culture that have been systematically overlooked. Against this backdrop, Cardoso provides a radical re-reading of Antropofagia and other modernist currents, locating them within a broader field of cultural modernization. Deccan in Transition, 1600 to 1800
This book presents the socio-cultural and historical trajectories of the Deccan plateau as well as the coastal areas of the current states of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa. It studies the art of diplomacy by discussing the diplomatic relations between the Marathas and various European companies, as well as the indigenous regional states. The author also probes into the Maratha naval policy, the evolution of a composite Deccani culture and the cultural flux that was taking place within the Maratha country. Through an interdisciplinary lens, the volume examines how caste and gender relations operated, how the idea of dissent was generated as well as the socio-political impact of various linguistic, ethnic and religious groups.
