La rehabilitación de la vivienda popular y del patrimonio en los centros históricos de Puebla (México) y de Puerto-Príncipe (Haití)
Este libro presenta la problemática del hábitat en los centros históricos de Puebla y de Puerto Príncipe. En el caso de Puebla, se observó que la rehabilitación patrimonial se limitó al núcleo y que la ausencia de rehabilitación en otros sectores y el déficit de servicios básicos han llevado a un deterioro de las condiciones de vida. A pesar de las distintas leyes y reglamentos y ciertas acciones de salvaguarda, la escasez de dependencias, mecanismos y recursos financieros ha limitado los resultados. Se propone volcarse hacia estrategias de intervención no convencionales para la rehabilitación de los barrios; las organizaciones locales, los proyectos productivos y el fideicomiso.

Space and Place in the Mexican Landscape
Metaphysical conceptions have always influenced how human societies create the built environment. Mexico—with its rich culture, full of symbol and myth, its beautiful cities, and its evocative ruins—is an excellent place to study the interplay of influences on space and place. In this volume, the authors consider the ideas and views that give the constructed spaces and buildings of Mexico—especially, of Querétaro—their particular ambience. Assessing Building Performance
The building performance evaluation (BPE) framework emphasizes an evaluative stance throughout the six phases of the building delivery and life cycle: (1) strategic planning/needs analysis; (2) program review; (3) design review; (4) post-construction evaluation/review; (5) post-occupancy evaluation; and, (6) facilities management review/adaptive reuse. The lessons learned from positive and negative building performance are fed into future building delivery cycles. The case studies illustrate how this basic methodology has been adapted to a range of cultural contexts, and indicates the positive results of building performance assessment in a wide range of situations.
