Brian McFee is The Preacher. Kidnapped as a child from his home in Ireland and pressed into duty as a cabin boy on a clipper ship, McFee eventually found his way to America and a new life as a western outlaw. His spiritual awakening came while in prison in New Mexico and placed him on an entirely new path, that of a circuit riding minister. But his past would not stay in the past. The Time of the Preacher is the story of McFee's attempts to find personal peace and salvation and of the forces that conspired to deny those things to him. His tale points to the trials many of us face in our own quest to become better persons and illustrates the truth of those words written by a song writer some years ago: Just when you think it's all over, it's only begun.
This collection offers memories of love found and of love lost. There are verses about line dancing and mechanical bulls, crusty bartenders and jukeboxes whining out two-stepping songs full of pedal-steel guitar. And, of course, the collection won't be complete without a few crying-in-your-beer poems too.
How Well You Walk Through Madness is a collection of beat writng; a collection that breaks the conventional norms of writing and isn't afraid to get weird! This book features bold poetry and fiction from writers who have a rebellious spirit. They write, experiment, and get torn apart, but never get torn down. Following the tradition of the Beat Generation, a literary movement from the 1940's and 1950's, How Well You Walk Through Madness seeks to showcase a more modern Beat writer. It seeks to explore the growth of the movment through these featured souls.
